The key to this new supplement appears to be chlorogenic acid. Early research has shown

1) It causes the body to burn glucose (or sugar) and fat, mainly in the liver
2) It slows the release of sugar into the blood stream, and it does this naturally.

Sugar is one of the major causes of fat in the body as sugar turns to fat. The researchers followed a group of 16 adults who supplemented with a special green coffee bean extract of chlorogenic acids at different dosages of 700 mg (350 mg twice a day) or 1050 mg (350 mg three times a day) for 22 weeks. All 16 adults were considered overweight, as demonstrated by a BMI of greater than 25 (a normal BMI is between 18.5 and 25).

The study used GCA green coffee bean extract, which contains a standard green coffee extract of 45% total chlorogenic acids have been known to have antioxidant health benefits. Our own studies have shown, with diet and exercise, 800 mg of green coffee per serving also helped with weight loss, energya and appetitie suppression.

The subjects lost an average of almost 18 pounds – this was 10% of their overall body weight and 4.4% of their overall body fat.
